Copywriting Lessons from my BAD sales page
Many years ago,I got hired to write a sales page for a lady selling hair products to women.
I asked her to send me samples of her product.
She did.
Her products worked. I know because I gave it out to some women to try.
After she paid me, I worked on her sales page.
Unfortunately, it didn't convert very well even after running paid traffic to it.
You know why?
Because I made a classic newbie mistake.
Let me explain.
You see, back then I only knew how to write sales copy for courses and digital products.
These sales pages are usually LONG and wordy.
And that's what I wrote for her.
That was a big mistake.
Here's what you should always remember.
Sales copy for physical products and digital products are different.
For physical products or ecom products you can write short sales pages and it'll generate great results.
This is true because of an important concept called “market awareness”.
The target audience of hair products are ALREADY aware of hair products.
They're probably buying other hair brands already.
So they don't need convincing.
They know what hair products are and can do.
You just have to show them yours work and why it works.
So when you sell physical products, use lots of proofs and demonstration videos. Not just text copy.
In fact, a 60 second video demonstration with before and after photos (or videos) of women who got results while using this product…
Is more powerful than a wordy 10-page text sales page.
This is possible because of the power of “market awareness”.
