One of the most effective and valuable types of emails you can write for any brand or business is a story email.
Why? Because EVERYONE loves a good story.
No exceptions.
We are wired to love stories from childhood.
And when you know how to do it right, it’s one of the easiest ways to sell.
I write story emails often.
I teach my students to write story-based emails.
In fact, here’s a recent story email written by one of my email copywriting students:

Sl: Man Arrested For Dating 35 Women At Once.
Dear {Name},
Have you heard about Takashi Miyagawa?
A Japanese man who dated 35 women at the same time!
Miyagawa works part-time as a salesman.
He met many of his victims while selling hydrogen shower heads.
He went on to promise each woman a relationship… but in truth, he wanted to use them.
He even lied about his birthday.
Telling each woman a different date so he could receive gifts through-out the year.
In total, he made over 100,000 yen ($900-$1,000) and even got a $280 suit as a gift.
One of his victims shared her heartbreak:
"On his birthday, I bought him a gift. He kissed me, and I told him I only want to do this with whom I will marry. He said ‘Don’t worry, I will spend my whole life with you.’”
{Name}, this story isn’t just about Miyagawa.
It happens every day.
